Cover Care
By following these guidelines you can prolong the life of your cover.
Cleaning
Acrylic canvas - Use a soft brush and plenty of water. If you wish to use an agent, use a non- detergent. Pure soap products are available from the Canvasman. The textile manufactures recommend reproofing the fabric after cleaning however your canvas should remain waterproof even if you do not.
P.V.C or Vinyl - Use a softish brush or a sponge and lots of water. Cleaning agents and products to prolong flexibility are available from The Canvasman.
Folding
Roll up doors and windows where possible. If you need to fold panels, try to put as few folds as possible through the windows.
Maintenance
Elastic - Keep any elastics fresh and stretchy. If any lengths of elastic or individual ball elastics look worn or overstretched it is advisable to replace as soon as possible. (All fittings and elastics are available from the Canvasman).
Zips - The life of a zip can be prolonged by running bees wax over the teeth. (Bees wax is available from the Canvasman).
Condensation - This usually occurs when it's colder outside than inside. Moisture in the air from breathing or washing up for example does not always escape through the canvas. Therefore a layer of moisture builds up on the inside of the canvas. If you have lots of condensation it is advisable to ventilate the cover.
Mould & algae - It is very difficult to remove mould and algae through cleaning. There is a specialist product available from the Canvasman which removes mould and algae whilst not damaging the acrylic.
Tree sap - Avoid mooring under trees!
Re-proofing - When re-proofing, apply evenly with a spray or a brush on the outside of the canvas. Avoid breathing in the fumes or spray. The Canvasman offers a reproofing service if required.
We are also happy to carry out repairs, replacement windows and zips to help with the longevity of your cover.
